[ He could offer something about new growth and...fertility? Maybe not. Instead, Patrick just slides his arms around David's waist, pulling him close. David's smiling now, doing his best to hide it, but Patrick isn't fooled, and he smiles back. ]
I like it, actually. You know? It's kind of peaceful.
And this way, we know no one will wander by and interrupt.
[ David's smile turns mischievous at that and he dips in for a kiss, drawing his thumbs back over his husband's jaw as he loses himself for a moment. It's been a while since they've been able to get away with this anywhere but their assigned living quarters.
Once the staff were gone. ]
At least we know it's definitely our honeymoon. You know, since it matches our ceremony. Sabotaged by damp.
[ He leans in, tilting his head up to meet David's and return the kiss. It's been way, way too long since they've been able to do this. Even when they do manage to scare the staff away for a while, there's always a nagging feeling in the back of Patrick's head that they're going to come back and interrupt them in the act.
But he draws back when David speaks, eyes wide with surprise. ]
Our...honeymoon?
[ He looks around, taking in the carefully decorated gazebo, the snacks and drinks and cushions with new eyes. It had been an amazing, romantic gesture, but he hadn't yet stopped to consider that it might be for an occasion. ]
[ It's been a kindness of David's not to mention to Patrick that the staff probably have ways of watching them inside their assigned quarters even when they think that they're completely alone. Why wouldn't they? They have the run of the place more than David and Patrick really do, thanks to their station.
But he doesn't want his modest husband thinking about that. At all. ]
Did I not make it obvious enough? [ He looks around with a bit of mock concern... but there's some real concern there, too. ] Not enough food? Flowers?
[ Even if the flowers here are... weird. ]
I just thought... It's not now or never, exactly, but. You know me. [ A grin as David settles back into his confidence. ] I'm impatient. And always in the mood for extravagance.
[ To be fair, it has been months since their wedding, and between paying for the wedding and the down payment on the house, they hadn't ever had much of a honeymoon planned. Certainly nothing as extravagant as David would have liked, Patrick knows.
This probably isn't like anything David might originally have had in mind, either, but to Patrick, it's perfect. His expression softens further, and he reaches a hand up to cradle the back of his husband's head. ]
Well, it was worth waiting for. But...I'm glad I don't have to wait any longer.
