Current Characters: Carol Peletier, Mal Oretsev
IC Info
Name: Patrick Brewer
Canon: Schitt's Creek
Age:30
Appearance: here
Canon Point: Post-Season 3
Background: wiki link
Personality: In a shocking twist from most DWRP characters, Patrick is outgoing, friendly, easy to get along with, and socially well-adjusted. He is eager to help others, a hard worker, and good at his job (small business finance manager). For fun he goes hiking and is team captain of his local softball league.
Patrick can get jealous and overcompetitive at times. However, his largest and most noticable character flaws are his poor communication skills and his tendency to avoid conflict. Before moving to Schitt's Creek, Patrick had been in an on-again-off-again relationship with his high school girlfriend for over a decade, ending in proposing to her. However, he was never happy with her, and ended up fleeing to Schitt's Creek without a word rather than officially breaking off the engagement. Even after asking David on a date and kissing him, he still made no attempt to tell him the truth about his past and his engagement. He also failed to actually make it clear to David that they were on a date at all.
Weaknesses/Temptations: Patrick is pretty straight-laced and very repressed, unlikely to seek out hard drugs or sexual encounters. However, his relatively sheltered upbringing might actually make it easier for him to fall into some bad encounters without recognizing the warning signs. His canon point is at the end of season 3, immediately after his first date with David and first kiss with a man. Being damned to Hell, cut off from everything and nearly everyone he knows, and finally coming to terms with his own sexuality after three decades on Earth, might be the impetus he needs to start experimenting and potentially making some bad choices - it's not as though things could get any worse, right?
David's presence in Hell is also likely to influence Patrick's actions and choices. While not (yet) his husband, Patrick cares about David and already recognizes that he's someone who needs managing and taking care of. While this could provide Patrick with a much-needed focus and purpose, both of them being sent to Hell so early in their relationship will also lead to tension and challenges that could affect his path to temptation or redemption in any number of unpredictable ways.
